Dear parents and carers,
We have arranged for all Year 7 students to have two half days of Forest School activities after Easter. The costs have been covered entirely by the school and through a generous donation from local company, Wolseley, to whom we are very grateful: there is no cost to parents. Many of the materials have been donated by parents and Swinton Estate, and again our thanks to them for this. The activities will all take place on the school site, using our wildlife garden and fields.
The aim is for students to have a chance to build friendships and develop their teamwork skills in various outdoor activities and challenges. These may include using tools and natural materials such as logs and fire. They will be supervised throughout by RGS staff and the sessions will be led by fully qualified Forest School leaders from local company Outdoor Adventures with appropriate risk assessments and safety precautions in place. Please contact me if you have any queries.
Students will need to come to school on those days in their school uniform but alsobring with them comfortable clothes such as tracksuit trousers and warm layers if it is cold. They need to bringwellies or boots and a coat, and waterproof trousers if possible: they will get muddy! If any family needs assistance in providing these, please contact me in confidence by Sunday 17th April so that I can help - marsh@ripongrammar.com
