Jodrell Bank Observatory – Educational Visit
13th July 2018
Dear Parent/Guardian
I am writing to advise you of an upcoming school trip to Jodrell Bank Observatory, Manchester. You may be more familiar with it as the back drop of the BBC’s Star Gazing Live with Professor Brian Cox.
The trip is open to current Y10 GCSE Astronomers.
The trip is planned for Wednesday 17th October 2018, leaving school at 7:30am and returning at approximately 6pm dependent on traffic.
The cost of the trip is £25 to cover the entrance fee at the Observatory, two educational workshops and the coach transportation.
Students will require a packed lunch or lunch money (approx. £7.50).
If you are happy for your son/daughter to attend the trip in support of their GCSE in Astronomy, please acknowledge this via Parent Pay when you make your payment.
Prompt payment by Friday 14th September is necessary to confirm our booking and to secure the coach on the available date.
If for any reason you are worried about the cost of the trip please do not hesitate to contact me. I do feel this trip will be invaluable, especially for this year group in support of their observational astronomy units.
Yours sincerely
Mr Barker
