HUGE congratulations to the ten RGS students who excelled on their Gold Duke of Edinburgh qualifying expedition this summer.
All passed with flying colours having completed a four-day 50km trek with around 3,000m of climbing. The route was in the Lake District starting at Bassenthwaite, via Castlerigg to a wild camp at Dalehead Tarn above Honister Pass, then to Buttermere and back to Keswick through the Newlands Valley.
RGS DofE co-ordinator Ruth Smith said: "The assessors complimented both groups on their teamwork and how they looked after each other at the campsites and while walking. The weather was mixed, with heavy rain at intervals, but the sun shone much of the time which helped dry out some rather wet waterproofs!
"Well done to Willow, Lucy, Lulu, Isabel, Will, Himansa, Aliza, Isla, Emily and Lily!"
