THREE members of the RGS community are undertaking the Great North Swim in Lake Windermere to raise money for a student’s rehabilitation following an accident.
Deputy housemistress Helen Mackenzie (pictured above), parent Charlotte Kimber and Mrs Mackenzie’s daughter, past pupil and scuba dive master Laura, along with her boyfriend George, will take on the challenge on Saturday, June 8.
All money raised will go towards mother Kamila Nowicka’s £100,000 appeal fund towards treatment, physiotherapy and spinal cord surgery following her son Alan’s fall from a doorway pull bar at home which left him unable to walk.
Mrs Mackenzie says: “Lake Windermere will be lovely and cold and full of disgusting weeds and horrible fish. But this is nothing compared to what Alan has had to endure."
