Students triumph as they battle the elements

WELL done to our second group of 34 bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award students, divided into five teams, who coped admirably as they battled strong winds and showers, with wet conditions while pitching their tents and gusts overnight.

The hopeful sign though was the rainbow spotted over Thruscross Reservoir, with the spring sunshine fortunately returning for the second day.

The route was Pateley Bridge  to Thruscross Reservoir and back to Pateley Bridge with camping at Breaks Fold Farm, a total distance of  around 25km with 700m of climbing over the two days.

A special mention to our two Year 11 pupils Ava and Lydia - their BXM instructor Daryl praised their leadership and teaching skills and how they stepped up to the challenge - needless to say, they both passed with flying colours. Well done both!
