Leading the field at this sparkling annual event were rugby player Oscar Wolloms and hockey player and gymnast Cerys Tudbury, awarded Outstanding Sports Persons of the Year.
More than 60 high-performing students across a wide range of sports from athletics to basketball, cycling, cricket, equestrian, football, golf, hockey, netball, rounders, rugby, running and swimming were presented with awards, including the U18 boys' rugby team and U18 girls' netball team, who triumphed in Team of the Year categories.
Director of sport, Adam Milner, said it was a wonderful evening of celebration: "It is great to see so many of our students enjoying sport and achieving such high standards. We have a lot of sporting talent, both individually and in teams, across a wide range of sports at RGS, from which all students benefit."
Praising Oscar for showing superb commitment to the U18 rugby team, he said: "He often played out of a position but still had a major impact on the team performance. He has also volunteered in lower school PE lessons, being an excellent role model to students and also helped take junior teams on fixtures, leading, coaching and officiating very well."
He described Cerys as a humble and mature young person who never missed a training session, Wednesday enrichment session, or match, whether indoor or outdoor: "She showed superb commitment to school sport and as captain of the U18 hockey team. She also helped with coaching some of the younger girls over the years. She is also the first to volunteer to play in defence which is not her natural position, when there’s no one else to fill in. A great team player.
"Well done to all those who won awards," he added.
