A TALENTED 16-year-old RGS rugby player has been selected for the Yorkshire U18 Rugby Academy.
Will Jarvis, from Roecliffe, was invited to train with the Yorkshire squad after playing for North Yorkshire’s U16s team.
After impressing during pre-season summer games with the U17 team against Newcastle Falcons, Saracens, Wasps and Harlequins, he was selected for the U18 squad.
The Wetherby RUFC player took up the game aged ten, inspired by one of his older cousins and going to watch England play with his uncle.
“Being selected to play against Newcastle Falcons in the summer has been the highlight of my rugby career so far, since it was my debut playing for Yorkshire,” he said.
He is now looking forward to the academy league season, where the U18 squad will play against the big academies.
“All I want from rugby is to continue enjoying it, I absolutely love it, and want to improve further with the help of Yorkshire coaches, club coaches and school.”
The keen musician, who also plays in the school brass ensemble and wind band, spends eight hours a week on rugby training, in addition to playing matches.
