Lots of happy faces as students are rewarded for efforts

HIGH achieving Ripon Grammar School students are celebrating outstanding A-level results.

More than 70 per cent of all grades achieved at RGS were at A*-B and 43 per cent at A*/A, with two students, Anna Bradley and Samarth Dasarathi, achieving a clean sweep of four A* grades.

Five further students - William Jarvis, Archie Bordewich, Lucie Brown, Toby Naish and Sam Mulligan -  achieved three A* grades and above.

Overall the school saw its 144 students receive a total of 83 A*s with the majority winning places on their first choice university courses, ranging from aerospace engineering to archaeology, architecture, astronomy, fine arts, medicine, criminology, dentistry, law, physics and sports psychology.

"It was a delight to see so many happy faces," said headmaster Jonathan Webb. "There are, of course, a large number of individual successes and the university picture is looking positive. It's a real credit to the hard work of the students and the support they received from our dedicated teaching staff."

He stressed the variety of courses chosen was equally to be celebrated: "We must focus on the process of learning as much as the end result. School is about learning, exploring new avenues and making real life choices."

And he added that the sixth form team was working hard to help those students facing the process of clearing, contemplating gap years or seeking to adjust their offers: "Inevitably amongst the many successes there are some who may be disappointed with how the process has worked for them. We will be guiding and supporting them and wish them all the best in their search."
