Three new team members joined our experienced captain Jie Yaw for this year's RGS junior schools challenge team: Kai Newby, James Maslen and Max Maisey. Modelled on University Challenge, the northern regional tournament included teams from St Olave's in York , Hymers in Hull, Queen Margaret's and Barnard Castle. A complex two round tournament resulted in some exceptionally high scoring games, and Ripon's young team performed well. Sadly, one win and one close loss meant we missed out on a place in the final, but we are already revising for next year, when Mr Webb will kindly organise the team whilst Mrs Mars is on maternity leave.
