Isabelle picked to play for county

A TALENTED young RGS cricketer has been selected to play for her county.

Isabelle Forsythe, who captains her school team, picked up cricket at nine years old, playing for her village, outside Harrogate.

“My dad and brother also play in the village, where we have a really good set-up,” she said.

Inspired by the England Ladies cricket team, the 12-year-old, who now plays for North Stainley Cricket Club, also loves cross country and long-distance track running in addition to cycling and playing tennis.

She came second in the U15 3,000m at the Yorkshire County Championships in May.

Interested in working in sports medicine or physiotherapy eventually, the highlight of her cricket career was getting into the Yorkshire championships with her school team.

Her immediate ambition is to set up a local all-girls’ team in Ripon for her age group.

Bruce selected for Nidderdale

WELL done too to Bruce Brown, selected to represent the Nidderdale League as wicket keeper and looking forward to his first Twenty20 against a touring London team on July 7.
