Hard work pays off for aspiring doctor Lucie

A CLEAN sweep of A*s at A-level has won student Lucie Brown a place to study medicine at university.

The 18-year-old achieved A*s in biology, psychology and chemistry A-levels, in addition to an A* in her extended project qualification.

Lucie, from Ripon, said: “I was relieved to discover my results to see that all the hard work had paid off.”

She added that her part-time jobs at Grantley Hall hotel and at a local doctors’ surgery throughout her time in sixth form had given her valuable experience of working with people.

“My time at the GP practice inspired me further to pursue a career in medicine, seeing first-hand the difference their care can make to people’s lives.

“I am delighted to be heading to study medicine and begin a new chapter, and I would not be in this position if it wasn’t for the academic and pastoral support from all the staff at Ripon Grammar School over the past seven years.

“The sixth form team were very supportive throughout my time in both lower sixth and upper sixth form. Similarly, the involvement of my subject teachers during my final years at RGS undeniably helped me towards my academic achievements and I cannot express my gratitude enough.”

Lucie comes from a long line of Old Riponians, her great grandfather, grandfather and grandmother, along with her aunt and uncle, all attended RGS.
