Big-hearted RGS pupils are rallying round to raise money towards student Alan Nowicki's rehabilitation fundraising following a life-changing accident.
Year 8 pupil Eshwar Sureshkumar, along with friends Krishank Jayaraj, Ray Nag, Vlad Danila, Artie Moss-Blundell and Will Auckinson are running a food stall at break time on Thursday, February, 8.
Alan's fall from a pull-up exercise bar at home in December resulted in a severe spinal cord injury which left him paralysed from the waist down.
Still undergoing treatment in Poland, Alan, who celebrated his 16th birthday on Sunday, February 4, is due to return home later in March.
Eshwar urged RGS students: "Please support us and feel free to drop off any food donations. Look for us in the canteen area and remember to bring loads of coins to buy our yummy snacks as card payments aren't possible."
Alan's mother Kamila, who is in Poland with him while he undergoes his rehabilitation thanked the pupils for all their efforts: "This is lovely," she said.
She added: "Alan is working tirelessly every day whilst I am beginning to start planning everything for our return home in the middle or end of March. Alan celebrated his 16th birthday last Sunday, away from his family and friends, but we made the most of the day.
"We are also using the swimming pool now and Alan enjoys it very much, he loved swimming before the accident. Alan has also had MRI and once the report comes back we will look into this with the neurologist.
"It’s busy here, tiring but Alan never complains, he does all that he can to stay healthy and to get stronger and fit, ready to return to school and a little bit of a different life."
