EUROPEAN CAKE-OFF: The winners

IT was difficult for judges to pick the winners in our European Day of Languages Cake-Off competition, which attracted lots of fabulous entries, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

In addition to this popular event, students enjoyed some English classes in Welsh, physics classes in Spanish and assembly instructions in French (thank you, Mrs Mars, Mr Saxon, Mr Barker and Mr Webb).

Head of modern foreign languages Mrs Harrison said: "Nationally, languages are in decline, so all positive reinforcement around school helps. It's lovely to see languages in use outside the humanities & languages block. Thank you to everyone who used greetings in or referenced a foreign language, also to all who supported and helped us with the bake sale - it was huge fun."
