DofE: It's all about teamwork

OUR 29 Duke of Edinburgh bronze award students displayed tremendous teamwork and navigational skills on their latest Dales expedition.

Despite heavy rain and strong winds, they successfully ventured 25km from Grassington to Kettlewell and then on to Malham, tackling 1,000m of ascent.

All passed their assessment, having demonstrated that they were able to get back on route after minor errors were made.

RGS DofE coordinator Ruth Smith says students particularly enjoyed the new DofE camp field at Kettlewell Camping: “With brand new washrooms and cooking canopy, it was great to have our own space with fabulous views up onto the tops.”

She added: “All the participants persevered through extremely wet conditions on day one, and blustery winds on day two. Well done all!”
