CAREERS: Psychology Society talk

ISABELLA MILNER reports on how a past pupil enlightened psychology students on career routes

WE were delighted to welcome pupil Sam Wood, who came to talk to our Psychology Society meeting about career routes within psychology, a much sort-after and growing profession.

Sam spoke about his own academic journey into psychology and his personal experiences.

As an upper sixth form student, it was useful to learn how to become a registered psychologist and the various pathways involved, along with university application tips to enhance our personal statements.

All the students greatly appreciated the knowledge he had about post-graduate studies and job placement ideas to enhance our own experiences.

We are hoping to maintain contact with Sam and, hopefully, arrange a visit the Psychology Department at Leeds Trinity University where Sam is presently working as technician and workshop tutor for level 4 and 5 quantitative and qualitative research methods. He is actively seeking a PhD opportunities to further his studies and academic status.

We would like to thank Sam for giving up his time to speak to our society. It is really appreciated.
