RGS's lower sixth from Law Society members triumphed in the first round of a University of Bradford Mock Trial competition.
The students, pleading the case for the prosecution, were pitted against a team from Woodhouse Grove School in the first online round.
Having been given detailed instructions by the university's law department on the case and how a courtroom functions, the students spent several lunchtimes studying their brief and rehearsing their chosen roles.
Head of careers Bob Walker said: "This is a superb opportunity of these aspiring barristers and solicitors to gain an insight into las and how a court case is prepared and held."
Aggregate scores will be added together following a further online round, with the two highest scoring teams going through to the live final in the university's courtroom.
