CAREERS: Giving students a helping hand

THANK you to the wide range of professionals who have helped prepare our students for university and career applications and interviews over the past month.

Our volunteer mock interviewers have included doctors, solicitors, engineers and investment bankers, who took time out from their busy working days to help put sixth form students through their paces.

Head of careers Bob Walker says: "Students are asked to write a speculative letter and CV for their ideal career, university course, apprenticeship or part-time job. Our interviewers are brilliant and give the students a 30-minute interview and superb feedback on their face-to-face performance and their paperwork. We are hugely grateful to all of them for their fantastic support across four afternoons."

Thank you also to past pupil Dr Hannah Scholes, who left RGS in 2016 and now works in A&E, for helping some of our students applying to study medicine prepare for their university interviews. She offered lots of great advice for our aspiring medics.
